Op 14 oktober 2020 organiseerde de P10 het webinar ‘Green Deal opportunities for rural areas’ als onderdeel van de European Week of Regions and Cities. Drie sprekers hebben aan ongeveer 70 deelnemers hun verhaal verteld over de kansen die de Europese Green Deal-maatregelen bieden voor de leefbaarheid en aantrekkingskracht van het platteland.
Diederik Samsom, kabinetschef van Eurocommissaris Frans Timmermans, vertelde vanuit Europees perspectief over het belang van de energietransitie en klimaatmaatregelen. Dr. Sandra Piesik, architect en directeur van 3 ideas B.V., stond stil bij het internationale perspectief en vertelde over hoe landen buiten Europa en internationale organisaties als de VN omgaan met deze thema’s. Wilma Delissen, burgemeester van Peel en Maas en lid van het Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, ging ten slotte in op de wisselwerking tussen stad en platteland, die nodig is om klimaatneutraal te worden. Na de drie speeches beantwoordden de sprekers vragen van deelnemers aan het webinar.
On 14 October 2020 the P10 organised the webinar ‘Green Deal opportunities for rural areas’ as part of the European Week of Regions and Cities. For an audience of approximately 70 attendees three speakers have told about the opportunities the European Green Deal measures offer to the liveability and attraction of rural areas.
Diederik Samsom, Head of Cabinet of Executive Vice-President of the EC Frans Timmermans, told from a European perspective about the importance of the energy transition and climate measures. Dr Sandra Piesik, director architect of 3 ideas B.V., spoke about the international perspective and told how countries outside Europe and international organisations like the UN deal with these subjects. Wilma Delissen, mayor of Peel en Maas and member of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, focused her story on the urban-rural interplay, necessary for achieving climate neutrality. After the three speeches the speakers answered questions of the attendees.
